MQM - Machine Queue Management

For a textile plant manager each daily operation is a new challenge: unachievable delivery dates, raw material quality variances, machines break downs, operator’s skills, bottlenecks in the process chains, delays in the supply chain, etc.

There is a strong “customer need” for a tool supporting the plant manager to schedule and launch the operations and to react to sudden changes. However, the complexity of the textile production scenario has produced so far very poor answers to this strong need.

Datatex is filling the gap between “needs” and “solutions” with its new module: MQM - Machine Queue Management.

Datatex MQM – objective

MQM supports the plant manager for:

  • On-time completion, respecting both the Production Order step dates and the final ship date
  • Minimizing setup time, taking into account each step properties
  • Minimizing WIP (Work-In-Progress). The Production Order steps can be scheduled “at latest possible time” (optional), thus reducing the inventory along with the production chain.
  • To run on the optimal resource, checking the features of the step to be scheduled against the needed resource features.

Datatex MQM competitive advantages

  • Designed for textile industry. It considers constraints and best-practices of the sector
  • Work on-line, thus the planner take decisions supported by the latest information
  • Flexible. It handles the many variables not to force a computer generated plan, but to support the planner to take the optimal decision.

Datatex MQM operations

  • Real–time updating of production (to/from plant ERP system)
  • Supports single scheduler for one facility, or multiple departmental users across multiple facilities
  • It supports both Continuous and Batch operations (with capacities and batch sizes)
  • It portrays current shop floor conditions with color–coded images to give instant insight into what is happening

Datatex MQM functions

  • Simulations (“What if” scenarios), to choose the best plan
  • User–defined views of the Plan or Bin
  • Material flow calculations
  • Additional / alternative resources for a step
  • Printed reports for production to use.

  • Scheduling objectives
Doesn’t your company’s success depend on “on – time” deliveries?
  • The scheduler
The scheduler can immediately see where problems lie, because everything is color – coded. He can drill down to locate where attention needs to be focused.
  • Drag and drop
Designed to be highly intuitive, schedulers can simply “drag and drop” individual jobs onto the Plan, with advanced capabilities only a mouse click away.
  • Finite capacity scheduling at machine level
Finite capacity scheduling at machine level. The Gantt chart shows all the scheduled production order. The different colors identify the products. The scheduling can be manual or automatic.
  • Window time frame
While the planner does manual scheduling, the system shows the window time frame to meet the customer required date.
  • Different resources where to place the order
When the user schedules a new order, the system shows the different resources where to “place” the order with their different level of product-resource compatibility.
  • Different resources where to place the order
When the planner schedules a new order, the system shows the different resources where to “place” the order with their different level of compatibility between resource and product and also between product running on the machine and product that has to be scheduled.
  • Material availability
The system controls also material availability, showing what is short.
