Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has offered advice to filmmakers in Nollywood, emphasising that no matter how much they imitate foreign movies, especially those from Hollywood, they can never surpass them.
He expressed this viewpoint on his Instagram story, directly addressing Nollywood’s tendency to emulate their international counterparts.

Edochie urged filmmakers to focus on sharing authentic Nigerian stories and incorporating more of the country’s rich culture and traditions into their movies.
In his words, “Dear Nigerian filmmakers,I commend all of us for all we’ve achieved so far. We must never forget this; no matter how much we copy oyibo, we no be Oyibo; we can never do their thing better than them.
